Karen Temlett

Founder and Director

Karen is a Montessori Pre-School Teacher and ran her own Parent/Toddler Play/Stimulation Programme for 20 years. She has volunteered in informal areas of Cape Town with a keen interest in the ECD sector. She has a passion for ladies who run day cares in informal areas and would like to train, empower and equip them to effectively stimulate the babies and toddlers in their care.

Carina van der Merwe

Founder and Director

Carina is an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about community development, especially in ECD. She has worked in rural communities for the past 4 years. She has seen the importance of empowering the community with knowledge, skills and confidence and how that aids ownership and sustainability.

Noreen Henry

Director and Admin Manager

Noreen Henry has a Nation Diploma in Financial Management. She feels like she is in the position to give back to the community.  She has a passion to see people developed and trained in the local ECD centre's. 
Her skills and expertise in finances is vital in the administration of the organisation.

NobantuPaliso

Fieldworker 

Nobantu started her working career as a domestic worker but has always been interested in teaching or social work.
She enrolled in the Shine Literacy Program and volunteered with helping kids to read.
Nobantu has done a short Montessori course and a nanny / au pair course. Her interest in teaching grew and she completed her certificate in Early Childhood Development. She recently completed both the 3-12- and 12–24-month Funda Kunye training courses learning how to teach and stimulate babies and toddlers. 
She holds a higher certificate in Human Resources Management from IQ Academy because she sees herself not just as a teacher but a businesswoman with many possibilities ahead.
In just a couple of months working with Funda Kunye she has seen the great impact it has on the mothers, children, teachers and caregivers and the community as a whole. We are so excited to have her as part of the team!
